My wife has a 1954/5 Dodge Pickup, which was assembled in South Australia.
The home made restoration began 14 Months ago and is nearing the end, if there is just a thing. I had cleaned out the fuel tank and thought it was OK. When putting fuel in the tank for the first time, Yes it started to leak. The leak was coming from the seal which joined the two halves of the tank. The location of the leak usually means a throw away item. I thought maybe something might be on You Tube. I saw an add on You Tube for KBS Auto Fuel Tank Sealer Kit. It was 14 years old, so maybe it wasn't still available and there it was, so I thought if it was still around 14 years latter it must be pretty good. I ordered a kit and it arrived very quickly, surprising now days. I followed the instruction's provided in the kit, which contained 3 items. 1. Cleaner, 2. a product to etch the inside of the tank. 3.. The Sealant . I followed the Instruction and I can say without prejudice, I was pleasantly surprised how good the old tank came out. It had a 5 cent size hole on one end. The 1st cleaner made the tank safe to weld, I was a bit sceptical. So I held a small hand gas touch gingerly over the filler pipe and nothing. No flames or smells, so I silver soldered the hole. I followed the instructions to the letter and received a tank that looked the same on the outside, but like a new tank on the inside. Time will tell, but at this point in time the product lived up to is claims. I would not hesitate to use it again if the same situation arrived.
