Fertan is a non toxic, non flammable, easily applied rust converter which can be applied over wet or dry rusting areas to provide a surface that can be painted.
It can be used on treated surfaces like galvanised or chromed.
This patented water based product penetrates porus rust and forms iron tannate.

Have used Fertan before on rusty car panels & works great neutralising the rust & a good base for paint
After using two supposed rust removal products that did not work, I applied Fertan to the two 300 mm x 500 mm panels that were rusted, and they turned black, just like they were supposed to. The rust is no longer present, so I will be using Fertan for any similar jobs in the future.
Good item
Fertan Rust Converter treats a rusted surface and seals it as a primer ready for painting. This is fine for surface rust but for heavy rust, prior treatments with a converter that doesn't seal allows multiple applications. Then a converter/sealer/primer such as Fertan can be applied as a final preparation for painting.
It seems to do what it is supposed to do but its effectiveness is yet to be verified over the coming years. It’s too early to provide quantified review.
